epic dream of Princeton; in the northwest corner of a great reading room I was paying for a haircut; the barber said “for $20 you can get a nice haircut with details”–I had gotten the budget haircut apparently; in paying I had money with pictures of Robin on the back, more like photos with money bills printed on the verso; somehow I didn’t have enough money so I went on a campus search for (maybe) a cash machine–why I left the reading room is unclear–and I encountered many people, often security folks at the doors to buildings and rooms; as I waked among the buildings I found myself on a paved path down what I thought was the center of campus and asked someone if the “new campus” was to the right, where we played soccer; I was attempting to return to the reading room to get my stuff and so kept asking for directions; I came to the edge of campus and saw the street continue on into a slum or barrio-type area, thinking that the pristine campus was surrounded by slums; I described the building I was looking for by saying that it was the first big room one would come to entering campus from the “front”; in the middle of my search I passed through many buildings where lectures were going on, people assembled or assembling; once or twice I think I saw the barber, was guided at times by female students; all the buildings were old with interior passages from building to building, as though the new had been attached to the old as add-ons; passageways with windows into the classrooms and (small) lecture halls
